i need 2 get more rpms out of my stock 1466 its still sittin at the stock settings i dont know how 2 change it.. i gotta pull this weekend at jefferson county wv i pulled 2 weeks ago at martinsburg wv and got beat pretty bad but most of the top guys in the class are runnin Dt466 moters and turnin over 3,000 rpms they say they checked everyone with a dumba$$ digital tach. i know the only way 2 really make it fair is bring out the dyno but that would take 2 long for them 2 do that all they wanna do is make money off the show!who cares if its fair! the people wanna see stuff screamin up the track! lol i guess i better find me an old school bus with a dt466 if i ever wanna win one!

An easy way to get more R's out of a DT engine is to repossition the throttle linkage on the shaft coming out of the fuel pump. It should be a grooved shaft there that the throttle connect to. Lossen the nut ans bolt and pull off that metal plate and rotate the shaft one way or the other to change the RPM's the catch is that you may not be able to shut off the tractor with the throttle you'll have to go and push down on the pump shut off manually.

Call me with any question I will help you out if I can. 507-251-7221

not working on stepping on toes here, but that is a good way to seize the pump.
once they go over rated rpm for the pump the governor weights tend to stress the linkage.

Yeah I know it is but for the short time it is at the higher RPM's it worked I went up to 3000 just long enough to get down the track. It may not have been the right way but it is a cheaper alternitive to 1500 plus for a pump and lines

The classes I pulled in were far from stock seemed like the farm stock class had the worst cheaters in it so thats how I found the throttel linkage trick

Seems like you still didnt get an answer. I run a case with an A pump, but you should be able to get the adjustment out of the throttle linkage. On mine there is a stop with a set screw and I just back it out for more rpms. But if you want to compete get yourself a decent 3lm turbo which isnt that pricy and have someone turn up your fuel. A stock 1466 will compete with the rest

If you plan on turning more than 3000 rpm's, you had better install a steel flywheel. If not your are sitting on grenade waiting to blow. Besides, dyno classes are for sissies. The few places I have been that used a dyno were trying to set it up so that one or two locals would win. By that I mean they would never check certain tractors even if they won. I know of one small pull they try this every year, and all they are doing is pissing people off and a few of them said they won't come back until they get rid of the dyno. The best way is to set some general rules with an R.P.M. limit and run what ya brung.

if your refering to laura they dyno every class except the 6500 because alot of the guys dont have pto's that pull, they only guys that wont come back is the non pto guys, cause they hassle them.. i heard they might all have to dyno this year, cause they have a open antique class, but i beleive its a 5000 class, but im trying to have them pull a 5500 open also. i talked to one guy that said theyll make classes for open guys if theres enough of them.

I would be interested in a 5500 or higher open antique class. Maybe 5000 don't know if I can get that light. When will they know if they are going to have those classes or not??
Thanks
Travis

What do you need the dyno for? To check engine RPM? Not hardly. A handheld tach on the PTO shaft will do the same thing, and a "dumba$$ digital tach" should work just as well if they're using a photo-tach and a piece of reflective tape on the crank pulley.

yea the lil tape on the crank shaft will work fine if u do them all from the same distance and the same size tape is used on everyone i have a tach that i borrow and it comes up with a diff # everytime

if you can't afford a photo tach try borrowing a good one not one from harbor frieght? the distance shouldn't make a diference how fast the rpm's are??? come on man!!

you sure you wouldn't need help takeing the 466 out of the short bus?first things is to get some cheese for that wine, and if you can't compete with the big dogs, get off the bus!

seems like he asked a question, didn't get 1 answer except for some advice about the flywheel.
out of the field should be out of the field, instead we have a class of camel jockey's with a bunch of go fast parts bolted on.
now you have my .02cents worth.
best way to turn the rpm up on a 14 is call ft dodge diesel in ft dodge ia or one of the other diesel shops around the country and buy a go fast pump.
or look for a used p-pump,not stock appearing but gets the job done better with less break downs.

I agree with minnesota red on contactimg a pump shop. That 1466 should have the american bosch model 100 rotary pump. I don't remember if that model uses a stop screw for high idle or not. Been awhile sice I have messed with one. I do know if you remove the top cover, inside on top is the fuel screw, and below it is the torque screw. Back the torque screw all the way out till it flush with the plate it goes thru. Also, ther is a "dog" or "cog" in there that needs to be repositioned to about a 45 to 50 degree angle. Doing this will help get max. torque out of that motor. DO this before messing with the fuel screw. Sorry I don't remember which way to turn the fuel screw. As far as "p" pumps, those normally are not allowed at brush or out of field class pulls. Only sanctioned pulls allow the "p" pumps here in IL. Just don't get crazy with the rpm's until you change some parts for safety reasons.
