My JD 60 is totaly stock tired and original with a powerblock installed by the dealer when it was new. With alot of blowby i am seeing 55hp. Me and my builder are looking for 75hp when we rebuild it. Stock it has a 6" bore and we are going to 6-1/8" bore with extensive head work. We are running a carb from a 70 to deliver more fuel to the bigger bore.

Is this 75hp w/ a stock cam or a regrind? I hope you can get that much, since Im working on building a simular engine, but I think 75hp w/ a stock crank is being awfully optimistic.

Carb on 60 and 70 are 100% identical except for the metering orfice sizes. Air flow is identical. Roberts Carb has a list of the all-fuel and gasoline nozzels etc to mix and match. Odds are the 70's stock metering will run lean. You will have to weld an O2 sensor bung into the exhaust and read with a wide range O2 sensor to really know the ratio.

I have a jd A with a powerblock, 6.125 pistons, heisler head and stock crank and it puts out about 68 hsp, very good runner with very little investment. By the way, I have the pistons for sale if anyone is interested.

6.125 is fairly easy, compression is your choicr ie. rods, piston design etc 55-60 hp. is possible given the facts,RPM also factors in.
