HI. I have a 900 diesel with the 377 engine. I am interested in making it bigger. I know its the same block, crank, ect as the 930 and 1030. It would be easy to make it a 451 like the 1030, but i am interested in bigger cubic inches yet. I have heard you can bore the 377 to 504. Does anyone know how big of bore you can go on a 900 before it gets to weak. I want to run stock rpm. I want to make a torque monster for pulling because its hard to compete with turboed tractors like a 1066. I get beat all the time. Any help would be appreciated.

I want my next project to be a 504 cubic inch 900. That would not require a great deal of boring to be able to fit the 4 5/8 inch sleeves. This can be done relatively inexpensive. I've done that to a 4 cyl. Case. The 870 gas head would be the head of choice which is NOT inexpensive. I wish I could afford a pair of them now so I could try them on my 700. But to answer your question, 504 is easy. 1000+ is possible. It all depends on how deep you want to reach into your pockets.

Yeah the 870 gas heads are hard to find, but after I found them for mine, it really woke the old girl up

What are you pulling? 900 Case? What were you running before the 870 gas heads? Are you talking about a little wake up or a huge difference?

I am pulling a case 900 with between 700 and 800 cubic inches. We had the 930 lp heads on it with the stock intake manifold. We put the 870 gas heads with a 1030 intake manifold, and it made a huge difference. We didn't think they would be worth the money, but we did it anyways. It turned out to be some of the best money we spent on it.

Thats what I would like to have, around 700-800 cubes. Did you have get custome made sleeves and pistons? What kind of horsepower does that thing have? Would it run with a 1066 or D21 allis.

I run a 900 gas 4.750/7.500 it has run 3 years with no problems. you can get a lot more hp for your dollar on gas vs dsl. You also need to find you a 401 block/ 930 chain drive this will give you a better selection of heads that will bolt on with no mods. Hope this helps joe

You can get them up to 1000 cubes if you want to spend the money. Why are you pulling against turbo tractors?

4.625 bore in a 900 block gets you 504. Bigger bore is possible.
