If I were to stroke a 37A and want to run close to the factory rpms. Would I loose torque?
Or is stroking better when rpm's are rasied?
Will i still have my lugging power at lower rpm's?

Thanks Chadah

I truely commend you for wanting to keep rpm in a "non-explosive" range. Most don't have any idea what a grenade they are riding. An "A" is built to stay together at around 1200-1500 rpm and that is if it is not cracked or has stress risers from 50+ years of work. I've seen them turned up to 2500-3000 rpm. That is a 100% increase over stock on a 50 yr. old tractor and without scatter shields or blankets of any kind!!Plain stupid (in my opinion) Stroke it,open things up to accomodate the extra cubes and run it no higher than 1500 rpm.Pull a gear or even two depending on track, higher than you think you should.Let that thing LUG cause that's how you win. The high rpm 4 and 6 cyl hot rods can spin the tires at will in the higher gears and it looks impressive but there are very few tracks that will hold this type of explosive and tire shocking power. These are the tracks where the low rpm/wide torque band luggers like yours will be will take over.

stroking a crank is like putting a pipe extension on a breaker bar- more leverage, not to mention the increase in displacement!
