I used 1800 sleeves in my 88 and withuot boring the block was easily abl to get 4.030 bore. The 1800 sleeves fit right in.

Blake-
Depending on who you run against, you may not be very competitive at that RPM without some cubes. And without stroking it, your piston speeds are too slow to move enough air. Max bore with water in the block yet is 4 3/8, some have went larger but the risk goes up. 4.42 bore is pretty safe, this is a 460 Ford BB .060 over. The largest bore without work on the block is 3 7/8 and this piston kit is around $600. You'll spend $1500 to $2000 to go to a bigger bore. As far as stroke, plan on spending $1000 to do the crank if you go nuts on stroke. A cheaper option is to offset grind and go to a smaller crankpin. You can gain 3/8 to 7/16 stroke here. As far as heads, I'm flowing that 1650 set-up today. The best head to put on the 4 main block is the S99 or GK195U. But if you don't go up in cubes and stay at 2200RPM this head is too big. And you want as much compression as you can get. The 1650 head has the smallest chamber out of all the 4 main heads. I'll send you flow numbers when I get them. Good luck.

Any restrictions on the bore? 4 1/4" and 4 3/8" bores are fairly common combinations will give 340 and 360 cubes respectively. You can go a bit bigger (I"ve heard of 4.40 and 4.5" bore engines). What RPM are we talking about?

Some have bored out the 3 7/8" M&W sleeves to 4" for 302 cubes, but you have to have not real pitting (corrosion) on the outside of the sleeve. Another avenue may be to use a 3 15/16 overbore set from an 1800. The sleeve is a bit longer and you only wind up using one O-ring to seal the bottom of the sleeve. For all of the trouble, you may just want to have a custom set of Darton sleeves made up and use Loctite liquid sleeve locker on the bottom to seal in the coolant. Make sure to watch your compression height. It doesn't do much good if the cubes go up but the compression goes down. Depending on how you are plnning on using the tractor, pulling only or pulling and some field work, you probably want the compression to go up.
