Flogger - This is the same trouble that I have had with copper gaskets in the past. In addition, I have found that their reliability in maintaining a seal on the combustion chamber (compression) leaves quite a bit to be desired. I got away from the copper gaskets and went to a Lubbock custom gasket. They use a material that is similar to OEM gaskets and crimp in a steel fire ring. The great part is that you just ink up the top of your block and lay a piece of posterboard on it. This transfers the block inprint to the posterboard, from which they make your new gasket. If you want certain water, oil, or bolt holes left out of the new gasket, all you have to do is color them in with a marker! I have had great luck with these pieces in large bore engines up to 12 to 1 compression. To make it even better, they are usually less than $100.00 each. If you have any questions, feel free to email me. They are: Lubbock Gasket & Supply 402 19th Street Lubbock, TX 79401 806-763-2801 or www.lubbockgasket.com Regards, Goldsburg
