Well, I saw Chevy duramax 2500s outpull 10,000lb class tractors last week. Couldn't believe it. Those things also outpulled 3500 duallies from all manufacturers. Also saw a modified Ford 350 pull further than the duramaxs but break the driveshaft at the end of the pull. For the tractors, an old Massey Harris was the most impressive. It did a little better than average pulling - but it was so quiet compared to all the others.

dont you see the operator change the gears on the sled. makes for crowd pleasure to get anything pulling down the track farther. not meaning any pun, been there, done that.

Not too surprising, I guess. I've heard of Dodge Cummins trucks specifically built for pulling making in the neighborhood of 1200 horsepower. Saw one pull this summer that supposedly is in the 700-hp range. Also saw several pretty hot Duramaxes pull and a few Fords.
