There was a story on the Red Diamond engine in Old Power Pride, June/July 2006 issue. If you look between the air compressor and the block just below number 1 spark plug you will find the engine size and serial number. It is on the drivers side, not the pass side. The 406 also could have had a 2 barrel carb. I will be happy to post the article with pictures on the Old Power Pride site if you would like. Jonathan

The intake base is broke off. There is an IH stamp on the exhaust. The red paint is still on. Is this worth saving? Unfortunatly, nothing comes out of this yard cheap. Everything seems to be on it. It even has an air compressor mounted on the driver side.

If you're referring to an IHC Red Diamond, as in 372-406-450-501-etc, not sure about RD engines but IH usually stamped the engine size on a machined pad on the block on the passenger side of the engine, near or at the front, usually just below the head and just behind the water pump.

Not sure about external parts availability; that manifold might be a problem.

If you mean a REO Diamond T, most of these used Continental or Hercules industrial engines(BIG 6 cylinder). The conti will have the engine series cast into the side of the block. The Herc should have a metal tag rivited to the block near the top. Both used one or two letters then three didgits signifieing the cubic inch displacement.

You'll find big time Diamons engine collectors here. Look through their archives also.

I have found 450's with 4 bbl manifolds on them. Alot of them don't have the size stamped on the ID pad, since they were dealer replacement blocks and were suppose to been marked by the dealer.
