I have an interesteing question. What constitutes stock. When we go to tractor pulls (stock) there is obviously no one that is really stock. I pull a 1206 with the fuel turned up a little but there is not a non-stock part on the tractor. People complain because my tractor pulls very well. There is a 700 PTO rpm rule in which I am always a little under. What are peoples opinions on what the word stock means. If someone makes a drawbar it isn"t stock. If someone takes of or puts a different aircleaner on it isn"t stock. Different size tires. I am of the opinion that you can"t be half pregnant (half stock).

I pull a 1456 IH in the 13200 and 14000 lb stock classes. Not one dollar has been spent on performance parts. The pump has been turned up all it can and thats it.At most pulls I'm the stockest tractor in the class at some under 200 horses.Others are pushing 300-400 horses.

I'd say that your 1206 is stock.

I"ve come to the conclusion that Farmstock is a contraction whick is a word made of two or more words, like o"clock, didn"t, wouldn"t, can"t, etc. Farmstock is a contraction made of the 3 words - FAR FROM STOCK - hence the word Far"mstock. The apostrophe has been removed, or should I say hidden, like many other things in the Farmstock category. I only know of one club that pulls a true Stock class. With whatever club you"re in or whatever class you"re in, like someone else has posted, just get a copy of the rules and go by those. (Sort of anyway!) Have fun most of all.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck, right ? Only thing is some ducks are on steroids, walk a little faster, and quacks a little louder but it's still stock, I mean it's still a duck. The identification of stock is as long as the history of pulling and depends on who's giving it.

So is it always stock unless you win then you"re not stock. That is the way it seems to be. If you win you must be cheating.

From what I have seen,it is whatever you can get away with and whatever your concience will let you get away with. Noboby is or has the time to check everything before the pull.Basically it's a concience thing. Some so-called tractor pullers would sell their sole for a $10 trophy.Pretty sad because it keeps a lot of honest STOCK pullers from even entering, which might make a good show if they all came out.You can't police it and there will always be "cheaters" so I don't see anything changing too soon. It's the story of the whole country if you look around.Rules will take a back seat to attendance every time.
