Have you ever worked on a SC to get more power out of them ? I have 2 of them and i an going to make a puller out of one! Striped down with pressed steele do you think it will get in 3500lbs or less? The darn things balance out like a DC and if you could get more Ponys out of them in a lite class they would be a good puller and a tractor knot many have! What do you think?

I have had good luck in 3500 and 4000 with my SC. It does balance very well. The tall narrow tires do well on some tracks around here. I am working on a stroked motor for it 3 11/16 x 5. I hope to finish it up this winter.

For the weight a SC is not a great puller. As long as you don"t plan to pull real heavy classes you will be OK. 3500 should be no problem at all to get in. Some porting of the head and manifold along with a bigger carb will help a lot. There is a lot you can do without going bigger on the cubes.

I have seen 75hp plus sc's, they are heavy but the rear is lighter than a dc 100 vs 120 roller chain ect., they do have a favorable weight balance, not as light on the front as a deere but much better than an IH ect. I realized this when i built my CC and put the weights at 11 ft. and saw how far they were ahead of the rad. try to get rid of as much cast as possible.I am going to start looking how much bore and stroke I can stuff into one. I know 4x6 is possible.

You will be under powered compared to the farmAlls that can get into that class.

Hey Mike Why cayn't you do all the stuff you do yo other tractors to make power with a SC? A Stock Farmall H is underpowered But no one tells them to to stay stock And a SC is Balanced better to start with! Everyone tells me there undered powered BUT has anyone ever tryed to make power out of one like the popular tractors?

The SC uses the same size rear as a DC. If an H used a M rear, it would require more of the engines HP due to power loss through the gears. I have no doubt that you can build a winning SC in a slow MPH class. Even at the stock cubes you should be able to get some better hp numbers. Raise the compression and concentrate on the airflow from the point where it enters the carb, till it leaves the pipe.

Almost all our classes here in Central PA are 3.5 Mph So there is No need to Go Faster than Maby 5 Mph in the non Paced Classes, The Stock SC that i use is 28 HP and 4500lbs with me on it and that kinda sucks because my Super C that i use around the farm is 30 HP and weighs 3100 with me on it so i understand where your coming from BUT the one i want to make into a puller might get some extra cubes closer to a DC and still be able to pull under 5000lbs unlike an DC or M so know you know more my idea! My stock SC pulls fine in 4500 but thats the only class it can and could use a 1000lb weight loss program and thats where the second SC comes in as a puller!

Cliff, I don't care what kind of case you want to modify there heavy for power ratio. We have a stock Dc with flat top pistons that puts out 47 hp and pulls 5500, 6000,6500, 7000, and 7500 and was done pulling by mid season do to the fact after 3 wins per class your not allowed to pull in that class again this season. I have a DC with 65 hp that weighs in at 4300 with driver. Also pulling a VAC with 47 hp at 540 rpm in 3500 and 3800 did very well. Dave S

Dave How did you get 47 Hp out of a VAC? I shure wish my VAC had more power! Did you put in a 201? We got VACs here pulling in 2500 including CASEPOWERS project VAC and Another VA that they inlarged the 201 quite a bit and I bet its over 100 HP then theres the Super C's with modified C-153 including our Super C's without the C-153 But at 3.5 MPH you Cayn't use all that power and 45 HP would be more than you need in a SC on most of our tracks threw 4500lbs class! That kno't to say that we dont have Power Tracks But i pull 7 differnt tractors that have all Won this year But i pick the tractors that can pull the best at each track and with 6 tracks within 40 miles from home each month we pulled over 50 times this last year and now we are going on the road from Central Pa to michigan NATPA to pull My Super C, Any ideas on the SC to make more power other than the ovious would be appreated!
