What configuration of a carb should I use for my 460 with a 301? You mentioned a M load screw? What other jets need to be changed?

Oh yeah I remember now you said to use a 35 venturi. Where can I order one and the M load screw?

You have a 301 in a 460,,, out of a combine??? If you look at the carb flange, where it bolts to the manifold, you might see the date code still stamped into the flange. If everything is original from the 301, this possibly can tell you bout what year the engine was built. I have about 10 6 cyl carbs that are pre 1970, and does not have the this extra fuel circuit drilled into the throttle body. The castings are there, but are not drilled. I have 3 carbs that are dated 3-71, 4-71 and 5-71 stamped in the top flange, that have the passaged drilled. You can tell by looking at the bottom of the throttle body, a large hole off to the side that goes up into the side of the throttle body, ends up right below the butterfly. It draws fuel right out the carb bowl, these carbs need a fuel pump to keep the bowl full. If it has this passage, a .120 main jet to start with, 93 octane fuel, #35 venturi, fuel pump, and it will make a difference. Thats if your carb is not original though,,, if it is,, then you just need to dial it in. ChadS
