what size tires are people using for h"s with about 40hp, on tracks that are just sand. I got 15.5"s and the tractor will just dig to China. So I was just wondering what the biggest tires you guys have seen on an H

thanks Brandon

How heavy, and what are you trying to pull in sand? transfer sled, or stoneboat? Sand is interesting to pull in,,, we have a track in our schedule that is nothing but sand! Nicknamed "The Beach" It"s a Horse race track, Sulky racing,, if its dry and loose, take the bite out of the frame, and let the weight do its work to break the sled loose. too much bite on the frame and it will dig, so weight it heavier than you usually would, more weight on the rear tires as you can, use weights behind the seat only as much as you need to make the front end a little lighter. Tires,,, a short cleated bar as close to the casing as you can get. You dont want to dig,,, just float on top. If the sand is wet it will hold together decent, and the transfer sled will be easier to pull,,,, its like being on grease! Our club"s sled, usually has to borrow weights from pullers, anywhere they can get to add weight to the pan so it will stop the tractors that know how to pull on sand. Weight placement,,,, balance, drive the tractor, dont hot rod it. One slip and your done. My stock SH, likes about 4500, cast rear rims, 15.5 lots of wheel weights and 2 75"s on the rear, with a stock hitch and 18 high. My modified H"s we was clear up in the 6500# classes with the bigger tractor just to make the HP hook to the sand. I cant wait for that pull this year!!! My big H will be back then. Chad

38's or 34's? if there is no limit on rim width, 20 inches wide will spread out the footprint. We are limited to 15.5s on all our pullers,, we have different tires just for this type of track. Get in line early in the class if you can, so the track is not dug up so badly before you get there.
