I am going to be doing some heavy discing with my 1961 JD 4010 diesel and would like to maybe try to get an extra 5 or ten horses out of it. Can i do this by turning the injection pump up a little and if so how do you rutn the injectin pump up on these tractors. thanks

I've only seen it done but assuming the 4010 pump is like a 4020 pump, you have to take the pump off the tractor and disassemble it....take 30 seconds to turn a screw and/or switch a spring..... and then carefully put the whole thing back together. If you've never done it or don't have someone to show you how you'd be better off taking it to a pump shop. Be sure to note how the shaft is alligned when you pull the pump out of the tractor so you get it back the same way. My grandfather smoked all their 4020's in the late 60's. He said you couldn't pull another bottom but you could pull what you had a gear faster, and if you remembered that you never had any trouble.
