Heard a little about a competition clutch called a "button clutch" What is it? Who makes it? Is it avalable for JD's? Who makes the best clutch for JD 2 cylinder's? Thanks for the help, still learning.

A button clutch, Dosnt rely on friction pads to grab. The only problem I have with a button clutch is that they are either in OR out. There is NO give. I put a button clutch in my pickup a few weeks ago. I took it out and put a stock clutch back in last week. But probally for your application one will work best for you My advice is, to find sombody close who has a button clutch in a tractor and drive it to see if that is really what you want. Just my 2 Cents worth. Good luck

Button clutch is simply one that has brass or ceramic pads attached to a solid disk instead of the solid liner type. From what I understand, the brass works best on the antiques. I have been told that 3-4 pads is all you want. With this number the brass will slipp a little bit untill it gets hot and will stick. Any clutch shop can build you one if you take them your clutch. It would also be a good idea to get bigger springs in the pressure plate to make it work well.
