OK... Can someone give me a difinitive discription to make the call on when a tire has been cut or is just "road worn". Had to make a call this weekend that was not very popular...wrong both ways. Is there a "line in the sand" to determine this? I know this has been kicked around for a long time but there has to be some good club criteria to make the call out there. Please share what you do!! Thanks

I hear this controversy about what constitutes a cut tire all the time. Why not just let cut tires in and not worry about it? Mike

Yes sir re BOB cut them puppy's not just top cut cut the $hit out o them. Truth is if you really do a good job TOP CUTTING them you have altered the leading edge anyway.I have listened to all these Road wore, spun backward on concrete B.S. excuses. The bottom line is cut them or NO alterations to any tire i.e. New TIRES, hint cutting them is cheaper than new tires.

When the rules were changed for OTTPA and CATPA we heard lots of people complaining that they would never cut their tires- they would just pull somewhere else. A lot of them said they would come pull at SATPA- They never showed.I know LW is a proponent of top cut tires, and JD Rooster, and others in our club are also. I can't say I am in favor of top cut tires because I think the argument will change to " his tires are cut more than mine" . I am going to preface this next comment with the statement " I am not throwing off on Rick or Mr Brock(sorry I can"t think of your first name}" Sometimes (you,me and everyone else) is simply OUT DROVE, OUT THOUGHT, OUT BALANCED and in THE WRONG PLACE ON THE TRACK. I know people who have high powered engines, new tires, used tires and every thing else done and they are still beaten and it is someone elses fault. It is never their fault
The people I would like to hear from on here are the people who were not going to cut their tires. What did you do? Are you pulling against top cut tires with your uncut tires? Are you winning? Are you happy with the change in the rules of your club? Our club is going to have to address this before the members. I for one would like to know if really has worked in your club. If you don"t want to put it up here for everyone to see please call me 843-658-7171
Thanks, Eric Benton

Why cave in and let the top cuts run call them what they are cheaters and DQ their butts .We have the same problem in our club and we catch a few of them . There is not enough difference in the tractors so you need some rules to divide the superfarm and modified like no altered tires and 18 inch drawbar . otherwise you might as well eliminate the superfarm classes.

The two guys that protested the cut tires were running new 16.9.Do you think they are going to cut their new high dollar Firestone tires.
Okay I do agree that you got the most obvious set of tires. What happens when their is a grey area tire.A tire that could go either way.Can you have a pull with two tractors with new 16.9 Firestones

I didn't make it Saturday but heard about the cut tire issue. I think L.W. said it best but again this is in the middle of pulling season and a lot are going to argue it on that primise about changing a rule mid stream. However if the complainers are that serious what is the problem with backing them up on croncrete while tied to a tree or simular object that won't move. caution you will need a water hose to cool things down. So let's all try to agree on top cut tires an get the old chain and water hose out and in about 20-30 minutes later we will be on the same playing feild. Tx, DR

Thanks for your responses! Problem is our rules are set and a meeting will be called at the end of pulling to make any changes. Personally I think all altered tires need to be in the Super classes as the rule allow now. I can see a land slide of protest coming now, Do we stop at tires or do we continue with RPM and on down the line? My best interest is in preserving our club and the ability to go pulling at a very good facility. Now to my original question...Who can tell me the difference in a naturally worn tire - a corn picker tire - a Combine tire - a spun backwards tire - a road worn tire - a grinder cut tire.

Ya'll have a really good thing going down there right now, It will only get better if you bite the bullet and allow top cuts in stock, then your honest pullers can compete! I have been there on the board looking at cut tires, had to made the call! I have also looked at tires that were road worn and not to good either that another puller protested were cut! The back of the cleat was higher than the front! The guy wasn't even winning,Now that's the same guy ( the protester) that voted to leave the tires uncut He didn't even know what he was looking at..... ....

AO, I was there and heard some of the bickering going on and it was not me doing any of the bitching. First I do not envy anyone having to make that call because you are not going to satisfy both parties involved. Either the tractor owner or the person protesting is going to leave there mad and that is not good for the growth of the club.
Back to your question, "Ray Charles" can see some things. The tires in question have been altered, you know it, I know it and the owners know it. It also forces the owners to lie about it and forces the other tractors owners to do the same to stay competitive.
LW hit the nail on the head by changing the rules to allow top cut tires. Think about it, no bitching, everyone go home happy. I am sure you are fully aware that some of the pullers that voted last year not to allow top cut tires already had cut tires. why not, they already had the advantage.

It's pretty simple really, if they appear to be cut you're gone.

Just make it even across the board, if a puller wants to take the chance of being disqualified that's his business and your's is to say no with no arguments or allow for top cut tires, it's the club's call or the promoter's. It's that simple!

Let them run top cut tires that stops all the bickering, like " his were spun backwards on concrete", " his are road worn", " his are cut", So everyone has to have new? or let the guy that finds that perfect set of road worn tires be the dominator.

I bet this goes on like the stock tractor discussion. We should cut them,or run brand new tires just like the stock tractors should have if completely restored.

Big Daddy, I will agree with you 100% when you stated you need HELP. However I think you were referring to your tractor.
