Does anyone out there have a cute catchy poem or anything about tractor pulling that I can use? I am trying to finish up a scrapbook documenting the progress of a tractor re-build for our son. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mrs. Big Jugs

Nice entries, Mr Elder. Here"s my offering:

Fish Story
by Frank Young

You"ve worked for years, like you had to do
Provided for them, but what about you?
Should you labor on,in selfless giving
Or is it time, for a little living

You"ve got your house, you"ve got your car
An ocassional night, spent at the bar
A loving wife, and a kid named Fred
But you need a tractor, out in that shed

So you set aside, perhaps a weekend
And follow the light, of your own beason
You hit the backroads, on a mission
And tell them all, you"re going "fishin"

Down shady backroad, and dusty lane
You search the fencerows, like a man insane
Driven on, by force unknown
You"ve got to have one, for your own

Back home they wonder, if the old man"s daft
He"s never been fond, of water craft
And never owned, a rod or reel
Never came home, with fish filled creel

They speculate, a mid life crisis
They speak of variety, and how it spices
They think perhaps, some psycho-pill
Would help you make it, up over that hill

But that"s not heard, by your deaf ears
You can"t be burdened, by all their fears
You"ve made your move, won"t turn around
Till what you seek, is finally found

Then suddenly, in that small clearing
You spot an old, McCormick Deering
It speaks to you, in rusted voice
The die is cast, you have no choice

The price is paid, no second thought
Already proud, of what you"ve bought
You load the relic, behind your truck
And thank the gods, that brought such luck

You head back home, your prize aboard
And vow that soon, it"ll be restored
To the fine machine, it used to be
It"s not just iron, it"s history

The family greets you, "Hi"ya, Dad
Certain that you"ve, at last gone mad
They blame the stress, a destructive factor
But what the hell, you"ve got your tractor!

Poor Old Tractor
I'm a poor old tractor I look so forlorn, I'm rusted and busted andterribly worn'I've sat here forever and sit here I must, probably sink in the ground and turn into dust. Now sitting out isn't muck fun, out in the snow, the wind, rain, and sun. Still I'll sit and rust, for it's better I've felt, than to go a scrap yard and then simply melt. Oh I could tell stories as I've sat through the ages of men robbing parts and kids busting gauges. This one little vandal though it didn't hurt, filled up my tank with rocks and some dirt. Then in walked a man so determined one day , along with my owner and they had lots to say. He looked me all over though rusted and bent they were talking about me, I didn't know what it meant. Now this guy was smooth, he worked his deal nice, with a shake of the hand, they agreed on a price. Oh they had quite a time of it getting me loaded, they pulled so darn hard that their winch exploded. But loaded I was and a sad looking load, but some dirt now flew off as we went down the road. When we got his place, what thoughs ran through my head, this must be heaven, I'm in a shed. Now the changes that followed I scarcely can say, it all happened so quickly by a little each day. First, completely dismantled and scattered around, some parts were on benches and some on the ground. My accessories removed at a quick rapid rate and their holes they were covered with aluminum plate with the rearend-transmission case ground light as a feather special gears, shafts, and bearings it all went together the head, block, and crankshaft were gone for a while and when they returned my owner did smile. Now, at first glance you'd think it a joke, there were short billet rods and a lengthened out stroke the block was all different more power in store with reinforced mains and mains and a much larger bore. Now, this wasn't the end let it never be said, just wait'til you hear what they'd done to my head big valves, ported, hi-tech terms I don't know all cut and welded to make a crossflow an electric fan to help keep me cool and a big bore carb running rich on the fuel an electrical system that would knock off your socks with sparks now supplied by an MSD box running several persent over on my RPM's with 18.4 tires on extra wide rims new accessories were added, right now as of late are wheelie bars, brackets, and moveable weight. Did I say I was rusty? Now rusty I ain't, all sanded and covered with Imron paint now the days are exciting and they'll never be dull, so why not come see me at the next TRACTOR PULL

Full Pull
In the heat and dust they hitched the sled
to the tractor rumbling there
from the stack, the smoke it billowed out
clouding black the humid air
If you think it's for the ribbons
or the prize money which is stark
if you think they're here for trophies
then my friend, you missed the mark
It's not about whose first or last
when twilight turns to night
it's about the friends whose back you slapped
when everything went right
It's about the times when times were tough
when you wondered why you care
until you heard the shouts of pals
rise up in evening's air
It's about the time the axle broke
when you knew you'd lost your shirt
then forty hands pushed in the mud
as you laughed until sides hurt
It's about a day spent with your dad
who cares who won the show
we're taking home fond memories
when it comes the time to go
In a hundred little towns the sounds
of tractors rumbles grand
they came here for each other
and the folks who fill the stand
It's the feeling that you did your best
while in that pulling try
you mostly measured up yourself
as the track went flying by
So if this all seems strange to you
you will never feel as full
as the man atop that tractor
when the flagman says, "FULL PULL"
