What is the best puller for the 4500lb class. I will NOT own a Case. I like my Massey's. I was thinking about a Oliver 77, Massey 44, Massey 101 Senior, or a John Deere A. What is everybody's oppinion. Thank you!!!

Buy a MM, it's painted prairie gold for a reason, that's the color of the first place prize. A screaming U can kick tail to any Red MH around.

Thank you everybody for your help. I already pull a Massey Harris 30 and a 1936 John Deere A. I am just wanting to move up in class and buy either a Massey 44 or 101 Sernior or an Oliver 77 or 88. I will have to see which one I can get the cheapest. In the club I belong to an Oliver 77 will beat an 88 any day in the 4500lb class. As far as the Massey 44 it seems to always be in the top 5. Thank you again everybody and the input is surely appreciated.

I have never been to a antique tractor pull. I have a old John deere 1010. I like this tractor a lot. How does it do in tractor pulls? Also are there any tractor pulls in NC? Thanks for any response's negative or positive. Take care,

Yes there are tractor pulls in N.C.,Rules are tractors 1960 and older.Denton Farm Park July 4 stock, 5 super,7 stock,also check out www.catpa.net

Get a tractor, no matter what brand,have fun pulling,It's just as much fun to come in last as first,My"G" is "sometimes a dimond,sometimes a stone, all the same for fun as long as the beer is cold at the end.OT

Where I'm at the Allis Chalmers rule the lower weight classes, 3000,3500,& if it has the right stuff like a WD45 they are very competitive in 4500. But that all depends on the class your running. A stock WD45 is hard to compete with these guys that are putting their Olivers on a very strict diet.

Interesting post. I have goodluck with my Oliver 77 but normally the MH 44 does better. This is in stock classes (Div. 2). The stock Case DCs in the club are also very good pullers. By the way, there are times that a 77 will beat an 88. My best advice is to go with the tractor you like the best and play with different set-ups. But remember to have fun.

I wouldn't own anything else than an Oliver. It's the only green that wins around Wisconsin at pulls.

Seems like if you go to southern and southwest WI, you'll find a Rumely 6 that will disagree with you, and the Bruegger's JD's might not agree either. Granted, they run heavier than 4500 lbs, but they do their share of winning.

Of all the years I have been around antique tractor pulling I have yet to see one brand win all the pulls for very long. I mean year after year. Maybe one weight class. Like the "88"in 4500lb.Have you every seen or pulled against W-40 IHC in 4500lb . I have been watching Hutson pull and place real high in all weight classes the last couple of years. The last year or so, the w-40 has NOT done as much winning as he did a couple years ago. Everyone caught him and PASSED him. He used to want to pull div 2 thru div 10 (LOL)....now, he "hides" in the very classes he used to complain that the OHIO guys made him pull in. Locally, yes he is tuff, BUT, when he hits the national cicuit, he's not so tuff! When only a few div 5 guys used to be the only ones to beat him, now div 4 guys get him quite often! Maybe this coming winter some div 3 guys will take out the w-40.

I already pull a Massey Harris 30 which does really well. The reason for not wanting a Case is that my Uncle runs Cases and I love to give him crap. If I bought a Case he would be laughing at me. Thank you anyway!!!

I just sold off a 101 Super. Gutless Wonder on the track in it's stock configuration at 4500 lbs. No torque.

Friend has a 44 that does extremely well around here in 4500 and 5500 division 2, still has the hydraulics on it at 4500.

I am looking into a 101 Senior and they are a little different setup then the Massey 101 Super. There is a Massey 101 Sernior already in my club and he pulls first place a lot. I am not sure if he is modified or not but it is supposed to be stock according to the rules. Thank you very much. Can you tell me what you got for the 101 Super?

Well I am certainly partial to Deere but if you are going to pull divison 3-5 ((hp per $$$$ spent)) the I would consider another brand.

Things have been rather dull lately, good post.

Well.....the tractors you listed I would run in the 3500-4000 classes! Why take a 77 Oliver when an 88 makes it easy!?! Even an M farmall will beat a 77 Oliver, I think!?!
