Have any of you put a MSD or like distributor in an M? What part # did you use to make it all fit together correctly?

MSD 6. MSD has an excellent web sight with very good instructions. I bought mine on ebay used cheap. It is a very easy installation.

Yep, I know about the MSD 6AL and intend to use it with a variable timing module. I'm curious about the distributor itself. Is there an MSD one that will work, or am I limited to a Petronix kit inside an original IH housing?

The pertronix will be more accurate, but if you use the points to trigger, you have to take out the condensor.

Dont worry about the distributor. Make sure though the springs are good. Use a CDI box like the MSD and just use the points pick up mode to trigger it. No need in buying pertronix with MSD. MSD does everything you need and is far superior. If you dont want to spend quite as much money Summit Racing makes a digital CDI for $150. Just go to summitracing.com
