I am from Central Pa. All of the farm classes we pull are a 4 MPH pace with stock farm tractors and some turned up. All different makes come out to pull, AC, IH, White, MF Oliver, and JD. We also have a 4-150 and have two broken rear axles to show for it. I guess it was that 5,000 gallon tanker and the torque of that 3208 CAT. HA Ha Just about every tractor we own was turned up at least 20 Hp or more. Our 1850 is running just shy of 200 Hp with the 354 perkins. We can pull 5th gear in the 10,000Lbs class with cut 18.4 X 38s on and spin it in. Our 2-150 and 2255 are right around 225-250 Hp. Diesel 77 - about 70 Hp Oliver 1750 130 Hp 1655 - 90 Hp We have right around 14 Oliver tractors, 2 Whites 2-150 and 4-150, and a 2805 MF No we don't have a turbo on ours yet. I took burned out the PTO clutches and found two chips out of the heel of the ring gear. I'm not too worried though. It looks like a casting flaw where air got in. I turned our 2255 up 2.5 turns and have another 2.5 to go. I'm thinking 350 - 400 Hp no problem with the right turbo and advancing the cam. We have some black smoke coming out when in under a heavy load or throwing the throttle ahead. I won't put a turbo on it until I put a double disc out of the 2-180 in the 2255. We did this to our 2-150 because we were always slipping it. THe 2-150 has a turbo on it and the pump is turned up all the way. Can't put out any more fuel out of the stock pump, unless you change the hydraulic head in it. We pull our 2255 at our local fairs with our 2-150. Just a lot of weight to throw around. Luckily it is all suitcase weights. It gets tiring throwing around over 4 tons of weight in a night pulling 15K to 19K with both tractors. I would like to put a pulling tractor together also. I'm thinking about using an 1850 rear that is sitting outback and the 3208 Cat. Take the engine apart, overhaul it and do some magic inside! In the end I would think about 800 Hp should come out rather easily with a turbo pushing out about 60 - 80 PSI of boost. The total weight of the tractor should be around 8,000 Lbs. Once I get some money around, I'm going to try this once I get some money around. Here is a link to our pulling clubs website if it works. Competition is tough is the OFF THE FARM classes. A few I.H. tractors are turned up and are pushing out some pretty good Hp. So much for me blabbing. Be sure to have fun when pulling whether you win or lose!
