It's not so much the "oil" that's different between different brands. It's all made the same way (basically). It's the additive package that's different and proprietary to different companies. It's not just "a bunch of bull".

You"re wrong. It"s no different. They just tell you that so you well think it"s better and pay more. One of the oldest scams going, and they get by with it.

I have worked for truck shops, new holland and deere as a mechanic. chevron delo, shell rotella t and deere plus 50 are all good oils. i wouldnt run anything else in a diesel motor. this comes from having to rebuild motors and seeing what oil like cenex's engine oil and other off brand oil does to cams, bearings and oil pumps. deere's hydraulic oil is also better than the brand x oils.

There is two or three different oil refineries that actually "make" the oil, but John Deere "designed" their own oil....Plus 50 that is, I don"t know about other oils such as lawn mower oil, etc.
Basically, the oil refineries make it to JDs specs...the additives are different in it vs other oils.

Yeah just like ALL the car manufacturing companies. Nothing but a bunch of BULL. They just charge more for the same oil.

Wise up.

I worked at the Petro Canada refinery located on Southdown Road in Mississauga. I can assure you that every batch of oil is blended to a different and particular spec for each client. As just 5 or 25 examples.Engine, auto trans, manual trans, rear diff lube & power steering fluid. All were trucked out to all the big three automotive assembly plants, plus Honda & Toyota in bulk by the tractor trailer load. No two batches were the speced by different purchasers. The oil all met the same Sae standards.

There are a few good notes on FL Viscosity Oil Company. They mix the oil with the additive packages for several different manufacturers, Case IH, New Holland, Cub Cadet.
