Hi Guys:

I may be interested in picking up an oliver at a sale for antique speed pulling. There are 2 options. 1 is a Oliver 770 gas, the other is a Oliver Super 88 diesel. What is the weight difference between the 2? From a performance standpoint, which is easier to modify and get more power out of? I was thinking of pulling 4500-6500# classes.

Thanks

Don't be afraid to put the fuel to it, especially if you can run a turbo. I've done it to MM diesels which also have energy cells, and it works pretty good. With that style of injection it will smoke more than a direct injection motor with the same amount of fuel, but it will still run good.

Has anyone installed a TO4 turbo on the 88 diesels? What needs to be done to the fuel pump to make it run better, I've seen on this site the pumps need switched?

How bout info on the 770 gassers?

The 88 Diesel's had the power cells.. the injectors mount straight into the side of the engine.. and inject acrosse the cylinder into a small chamber.. easy to over fuel.. I don't think you will get a great HP increase even with the turbo.. it will help.. but not what you think...
I think most are using the 310 wash engine.. not sure what head combo..
