I have a 1959 Case 211B tractor that has a transmission and or clutch problem. The tractor has a 4 speed manual w/ 1 reverse. It shifts ok but tractor will not move Its like the clutch will not release... sometimes it will work. I bought a C201 manual but not enough info. Can anyone help..? I beleive the transmission is fine but the clutch won"t release all the time. I really do not want to split the tractor in half if at all possible.

hi Todd. if it will shift gears without grinding and not turn the wheels, you might have the same problem i had. i have a 3oo with hand clutch and triple range. i was moving snow one day and it just stopped. every thing worked but the wheels would not move. a tractor mechanic said the clutch hub spun or the splines stripped off. when i did take it apart the coil springs in the clutch were in a pile in the bottom. those springs hold the clutch plates to the drive hub. the clutch was turning with the flywheel but the hub wasn't turning the tranny shaft. if it was clutch adjustment you couldn't shift. you can't get to clutch without splitting. that is all i know to tell you. hope this helps. charley.

hi. does that 211 have the hand clutch option? it is a long lever sticking up on the left side of torque tube ahead of foot clutch. that lever pushed ahead is engaged,go,back is stop. does it have the three speed aux. trany on the right side? charley.

no it doesn"t have the three speed aux. trany. This is a basic 4 speed w/1 reverse. The tractor runs great just can"t move it. It seems the clutch will not release as there is no pressure when you step on the foot pedal. But there are times that it will work but few and far between, is there any way to lube the shaft and / or the throwout bearing w/o splitting the tractor?
