Checked hydraulic hose in pumpkin and o-rings in cylinder.Everything looks good. Why wouldn't any oil come out the back of the hydraulic line, going back to the rear hydraulic lift system?

Do you have the clutch pedel up or down and is the PTO engaged. I don't remeber for sure on a D-17 but I know it doesn't have live hyds.

D17 has live hydraulics with the Power Director- not independent until the Series IV. PTO engagement has nothing to do with hydraulic operation.

Either one or both of those problems maybe your hyd problem. I sold my D-17 over a year ago so I don't remember how the hyds worked but I do lnow if the clutch pedel is down they wouldn't work.
