My 97 GM product was giving me a hard time with the wipers, sometimes would not work at all,I would jiggle the wiper motor and they would kick in but then it came to a point where they were not doing anything so I ground the wiper motor to the firewall with about 8 inches of wire and now work as good as new,all functions.I wonder how many bad grounds have caused electronic parts sales.Dan in AB

I just quit a job as a service advisor at a GM dealership. I believe the recall number was 03023, and it did include some 97 GMC/Chevrolet trucks. The recall includes removing the circuit board from the wiper motor and replacing it. Either way the recall is free, if your vehicle is not covered the part is about $55.00 and you only have to remove and install 3 screws, it takes about 2 or 3 minutes. Hope this helps...

Dan:

I"m just going by memory, but it seems to me there was a recall of many, many GMC products of that vintage that had something to do with a circuit board in the windshield wiper drive. You may want to check with your local dealer about the recall. Of course, if you"re happy with the way it"s working now, you may want to leave well enough alone.
