Hey, has anyone out there converted their 8N PTO from 1 1/8 to 1 3/8? I just bought the conversion shaft ($110) but before I begin, wanted to know if anyone out there has done so and can give me some tips as to how simple or complex the job is and what to look out for, etc. THANKS!

Wouldn't it be easier to just put an adaptor on your pto shaft to make it the size you want?

Either drain the hydraulic/tranny/differential oil (start with a container that will hold 5 gallons. Or, park it in a ditch with the nose down. Remove 4 bolts on the PO housing, pull out the old PTO assembly, stick in the new PTO assembly, replace the four bolts. It is a 15 minute job at best.

Good luck,
Dan

Hopefully, his original shaft is not twisted in the splined area that passes through the hydraulic pump.

That will shoot the 'ole "15-minute" job plan all to heck!

Also, IIRC, it's best to engage the PTO lever before pulling the old shaft, which will keep the collar engaged, so it can't fall out of place when the shaft is removed... someone correct me, if I'm wrong here!

Check the 8N, 2N, 9N board. There is a wealth of info on changing the PTO on tge 8N.
