Is there a quick fix or a fix for the shift problem on the 806? After the linkage wears it is diffcult to get the reverse gear to engage. Also the 3- point hitch will only go down about 25 o/o. How do I fix the hitch?

Thanks, Bo.

Well as for the shifting problem first ya have to start at the top and fix the looseness in the linkage and work your way on down thru the linkage . Pull the cowel off and check all the as i call them the cubcadet tierod endsfor ware and replace , next check the headed pins on the link arm to the shift lever on the range transmission cover and replace with the OEM pins , yea any 3/8th headed pin will fit but the cotter pin holes are never where they need to be as they must be real close to the yoke or they will catch . Now if that fixes the problem for now then fine , but more then likely there is more work to be done with the range transmission cover as it may need to be replaced or rebushed . Myself i send the cover out to one of the local machine shops and have the shifter hole bored out and a bushing made and pressed in , now keeping the orginal center of the hole is most important . If you have to remove the top cover and extra set of hands is a big help on this job along with removing the cliped corner cover off the left side or the rearend case as this is where the rev. shift fork is and ya don't want to lose any parts down in the range transmission . You may find that the shifter shaft is wore in the keyway and also the shifter cam is woren along with the rev. shift rod and maybe some broken rollers . The deck plate has to come off and maybe some hyd. line if the tractor is equiped with side mount hyd. outlets they can be a pain to get oand one must tag or have a good memory to put them back just as they came off . Any looseness on any of the shifter parts will cause shifting problems with rev. Now also propper clutch adjustment along with propper dump valve and trans brake adjustment is a must on all hyd T/A tractors as this make shifting either easy or a nightmare . Now as for the hitch problems you will need and I T manual or a factory shop service manual to get it wright . When you want to know how to adjust the clutch and dump valve and trans brake we will tell you and easy way that is far better then what the book tells ya So hunt me up on the Farmall BOARD and we will cover that.
