I have a leaking spool valve on my 1956 Case's hydraulic loader.

Its part of an original Wagnor tube loader that otherwise works nicely. It think it needs some attention on the 2 lifting cylinders as well since the bucket drops slowly.

Anyone know if its possible to find interchangeable parts for the spool valve assembly or to attempt to rebuild it ? I want to keep things original but have no hydraulic repair experience, other than pouring through the archives on this site. Thanks.. Kestrel in CT

Likely, there are "O" rings or other seals at each end of the spool. A local hydraulic shop will have or can get about any seal ring you find in there, as well as seal rings for the cylinders.

The spool may be a bit tricky to get together without cutting the new rings. Sometimes, you put one seal in, push the spool that way, into the seal, then install the other seal, and bring the spool back that way. Vaseline works good for lube.

Bob,

Thank you for the great advice. I may remove the whole affair and bring it up to a reputable hydraulic repair service I heard about 'n get their input first.

I don't mind challenges and tearing things apart as long as I have a parts supplier nearby. I can see how people get kinda hooked on hydraulic systems though. Pretty interesting stuff once the theory is understood.
