I am working on a USMC generator that has a Allis-Chalmers 3500-A diesel engine. Two of the injector lines on the the injection pump leak. I've tried tighten them but they still leak. Are there any tricks to fixing this problem. The lines are fastened to the injection pump by bolts that the fuel runs through and looks like they have to line up perfect with the injection lines. Any help would be greatly appreciated

sometimes people will tighten bolt so tight that it leaves a ring seat in the banjo fitting, remove the whole line and see if that is the cause. I have had to file the fitting flat again and then use copper washers, i get mine from Case IH, they are use on a 706 or806

...and those banjo eashers just may be COPPER. If you can not find new ones, heat the old ones until slightly red, quench in water to soften and re-use.

Sounds like a "banjo" fitting. Typically, there is a flat steel washer on either side of the fitting, one under the head of the bolt, and one between the fitting and the injection pump "head".

The washers have a black coating on them that helps to seal the fitting under the high pressures involved, and likely need to be replaced, if the fittings are leaking.

Replace the washers with new ones (or install them, if they are missing), and tighten the bolts ^%&# tight, and that will be the end of the leaks.
