I have a Case 220 lawn tractor. It over heats, like turning the exhaust red. What could cause this. I have adjusted the idle and fuel mixture per manuals instructions and checked the air filter. I'm not a mechanic exactly but I do basic repairs. No idea of cause. HELP!
I purchased this mower to use but it has become a hobby!

It reads:
Kohler the cast iron line 10HP

the tractor has the words:
Case 220 hydralic drive

Yep carbs probably set to lean on most of the engines like that theres not much if any way to adjust timing unless the flywheel key is bad and if thats so you need to replace the key

You set the timing by varying the breaker point gap, while using a timing light. On these engines, the flywheel key has NOTHING to do with spark timing. Here's a link to the service manual, with detailed instructions. You have a K-241, look up the "spec's" accordingly.
