We have a BO that will start but will not stay running. We have changed the screen, cleaned the carburator, changed the plug. It will fire and stay running with the choke all the way out, but when you push it in or try to give it gas it will die. Any ideas?????

Jeff, To insure theres sufficient gas getting to the carb and through the carbs needle valve and seat, open the carb bowls lower drain cock plug n turn the gas on and THERE MUST BE a steady stream of gas running out around 1/16 inch or a lil larger continuous. IS THERE????? ? If not, to check gas flow out the tanks lil outlet pipe and into and out of the sediment bowl, remove the gas line where it enters the carb and gas ought to flow strong n steady a stream the size of the lines ID, if NOT theres a restriction at the tanks lil bottom outlet or in the sediment bowl assembly or the fuel line..... . Ive often found crud in thbe lil pipe that exits the tank and then the lil pipe inside the sediment bowl where gas exits into the glass bowl. Other place where she cruds up is the needle valve n seat area. If theres good flow to the carb but NOT out the bottom drain cock plug, you may be able to remove the carbs side inlet strainers top nut n cap n use gumout n air to clean the strainer and then the needle n seat down in the bottom of the brass pipe in the center !!!!! !!

YOU GOTTA GET GOOD FLOW OUT THE TANK,,,,, , AND THROUGH THE SEDIMENT BOWL,,,,, ,, AND THEN THROUGH THE CARBS NEEDLE N SEAT AS DESCRIBED ABOVE

Nowwwww ww if all that passes, what happens when you adjust the carbs top load n idle needles????? ???? do they have an affect??? I initially rough mine it at closed down then 1 turn out for the load needle and 2 out for the idle needle, where are yours set and does adjusting them help????? ?????

Nowwwww www if the flow is good and the needles are adjusted but she still requires choke,,,,,have you checked the float level????? ?? If its wayyyyy yy too low that can starve her for gas !!!!! !!!!! !!!!! !!

Finally, if the flow is good,,,,, ,,,needles are adjusted,,,,, ,,,,float level is okay,,,,, ,but she still requires choke to run, I suspect the main center vertical brass nozzle may be clogged up!!!!! !! It dont get cleaned simply by cleaning or blowing or using gumout in the carb, it needs to be removed and alllll lll its lil side holes cleaned out!!!!! !!!!! !

ALSO if all above is good and even if the main nozzle is cleaned out,,,,, the carbs internal load or idle passages may be cloged up, and again, no cleaning or boiling or soaking till the cowns come home is everrrrr r gonan cure that. To fix that you need to remove all the carbs brass drill plugs (requires heat usually) and use the extra long No 40 and 53 aircraft drill bits and wire to clean n bore out alllll ll the internal passages.

You also gotta have fresh clean water free gas and you may wanna remove n check n clean (may have water) the air cleaners bottom oil bowl.

Do BOTH plugs show a good strong BLUE spark??? If not you may have a weak spark caused by points or condensor or coil etc etc. Check the spark n try new plugs n use good wire core plug wires
