I have a 460 gas with new points, plugs, coil, condenser, and distributer cap. It starts up just fine, but after running it for 45 min.-one hour, it diesout. It almost sounds as if it is flooding out. The carburetor has been rebuilt and appears fine. But like I said, after warming up real good, or making the tractor exert some effort, it dies. Any suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks. Bruce

I had the similar problem with my 460 and it drove me nuts. Finally I found that the air cleaner was practically choked with dirt.

When a weak coil gets hot it will cause that problem. If that is the case, it should start in a few minutes, then die sooner the second time. When it dies check the spark, I doubt if there is any.

Missed that you replaced the coil -- Could be a fuel flow problem, but that usually occurs within a few minutes. I still suspect the ignition. 460 has a 12 volt battery and generator; along with a 6 volt coil running through a ballast resistor, you might check that out.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check out both ideas.

When it dies on you do you still have a good brite blue spark?? If not then you have a problem in the ignition. Also when you replaced all the other stuff why didn't you replace the rotor?? Shoot even a bad rotor could be your problem.
