How do you remove the clutch (belt pulley) from the gear drive shaft? I need to replace an "operating bolt", but I can't remove the pulley. I have removed all adjusting, lined, and drive disks but now I'm stuck. Also, any recommendations on where I can purchase an "operating bolt"?

the bolts are still available from John Deere Dealer. I just got some. But they are not cheap.

What you need to get is called" Service Manual For John Deere Dealers". It is a reprint of the original. It comes in loose leaf to be put in a ringed notebook. It is not cheap.I paid around $70 for mine. Can't remember where I sent to get it but I'm sure if you ask on the JD forum, someone will tell you.In the mean time,I will try to look up where I got it. It tells/shows 10 times the detail that the others do.It's well worth the money. When I find where I got it I will post you on the JD site.

I do own both the Operator's Manual (OMR2002CC) and the I&T Shop Service Shop Manual for the tractor. I used both as I dis-
assembled the clutch disks. Neither manual gives me the answer regarding the actual removal steps to remove the clutch pulley.

Hello,

What,may I ask,is an "operating bolt"?
Do you have a service manual or parts book?
You should have a manual when it goes back
together so you can adjust the clutch properly. CalJim

The I&T Shop Manual that I purchased after I bought the tractor shows an "exploded view" of the clutch assembly and it calls these (3) bolts as "operating bolts".

If you have removed the drive disc that was pressed on the crank. You then need to remove the 4 bolts that hold on the clutch fork and pulley brake directly in front of the pulley. Remove that assembly and your pulley will come off. Salvage yard or maybe on E-bay for the bolt. Good luck. Ron Mn.

Do I really need to remove the pulley brake assembly to remove the pulley wheel? Shouldn't the pulley slide off of the crankshaft without having to remove the brake assembly? I also need to find some good parts resources for the tractor. Any suggestions?

Yes the clutch fork and pulley brake assembly have to come off in order for the pulley to be removed. There are 4 bolts to take off, pull it out and your pulley will slide off. Ron Mn.

If you don't have a service manual or other instructional manual, you really should not even be doing this. I'm assuming you don't because it tells you just what you are asking AND a lot more you NEED to know.
