I have a 1957 TO-35, gas burner with a Z-134 engine. Tractor started missing, so I tuned it up, but still had an intermittent miss and motor would not accelerate properly as I gave it more throttle. I hooked the disc to tractor warmed motor up and put it in the field. I had to open carburetor power screw up about 1 round before tractor started running properly. Tractor starts good, runs fine and takes fuel properly.

However, I think fuel mixer is too rich now because when I shut off motor I get an explosion in muffler (loud pop). Tractor did not do this before I opened up power screw. Why would I have to open power screw this much when tractor had been running fine all summer?

You probably have some rust or other junk clogging up the main jet a little. Pull the main jet adjustment out and spray some carb cleaner in, have the drain plug remove when you do that so you can wash out the junk
