Rim Repair

I've got a classic case of nasty, rusted, pitted rim. This is a 20" rim off a JD H manure spreader. I've repaired all the thin/weak spots, wirebrushed all the rust and scale off and it's looking usable. The only remaining issue is that the bead area is badly pitted.

Reading through the archives, I see a reference to something called Rust Seal. I was contemplating mixing up some epoxy resin and slathering it over the pitted area, and grinding/sanding it smooth. Will this work? If not, will Rust Seal "heal" pitting that is perhaps 1/16th deep in places?

I use fiberglass to fill the bad areas,Than cover the inside of the rim with fiberglass resin.I hope this helps.
