On one ocasion at our anual show I had a Sandow hit and miss that was running rich for a couple of days, and perhaps the last few years. We lost compression, and determined that the intake valve was sticking- 2hr later with WD 40--a battery powered drill spinning it while WD 40 was sprayed into it, we all (probably a dozen) know it alls (including myself) decided it was a bent valve and gave up. Now i'm sure this story gets better every time I tell it, but a very young lad walked up and asked if he could give it a try. Of course, I said and went about my business. He then asked for a can of starting fluid. I will stand on bibles and say that after two very short blasts he asked me to crank her over--I had compression just that fast. It makes one feel pretty good to see a dozen old timers curse and give credit to a youngster. As forgetful as us old guys get we still all remember that event, and talk about it often. Now starting fluid is a part of our gas engine tool boxes. NE IA Dave

@ ways that I know of have tried. Instead of MMO I use tranny fluid cost a lot less and does the same thing. Or a mist of water into the carb air intake also cleans carbon. You start the engine and do a mist of water into the carb, not enough to kill the engine but enough to see smoke/black steam/water
