I got a JD sickle mower and the wheel is in really good shape but someone sprayed paint on it. I would like to paint this and get it looking nice. I dont want to ruin the tire, Im not sure if paint stripper will mess up the tire or not. Does anyone know anyways to get paint off a tire?

Sounds like you're gonna repaint the whole thing anyway? A sandblaster won't harm the rubber at all, so I'd just use that iof you have one. Then for painting, every one has their own methods but I'd just tape it off really good. Others will use vasaline or some oil based product that can be wiped off once the paint is dry.

Aircraft stripper will not hurt rubber. It'll take that old paint right off there.

the best way is to use a wire brush on the end of a grinder or use tire paint.

Tire paint can be bought from most tire supply places, its a rubber based paint used for retread tires to make them look good to resell not for deception just to add to the looks. I have painted many truck tires before and did recaping but now most states have outlawed them and I no longer do this for a living but I also never had one blow off.

You might try paint thinner, if its a cheap paint like sold in Wal-Mart it will probably come off. Or you could also try some gas, either one will not hurt the tire much if any
