Farmall red rear light restoration

The rear light has about a one inch hole in the reflective material on the inside of the sealed beam unit. On the lower two switch settings a clear bulb on a little fixture outside the sealed beam shines through this hole. When new the back of the sealed beam unit had a red tint or film on the back. The red light shined through the red tinted hole and the inner reflective material reflected red to give a pretty effective warning light.

Well over the years mine had burned or peeled off, so no red light, only clear. After trying several paints and stains, I went to the automotive store and bought some of the tail light repair tape that 3M makes. I cleaned the area and placed two layers of the film over the hole. It works great. I now have the red rear light back. The film is supposed to withstand 350 degrees so I hope it lasts. Maybe this will help someone with a restoration project.
