My Dad just bought a dandy looking little IHC 656 Hydro. Problem is, the hydro is weak on the low side and does nothing on the high side. Does anyone have any recommendations on what might be wrong and how to fix it? I hear a new hydro can run up to $5000. The tractor will have to go if I can't fix it for less than that! Thanks!

Hey tractor vet...can you put me in touch with Allen in NE. I have no intention of working on the tractor myself, as I do not have the know-how or the tools. I would, however, be interested in knowing if someone could tell me if this one can be repaired, or if it is hopeless. Thanks.

As CK said ya can find him like me on either the farmall board or tractor talk . Now you can do the testing with a I T manual and two high pressure gauges yourself as it just maybe something simpal .

Well the best Hydro expert on here is Allen in NE. as he has played with his hydro . As in all the years i worked on I H's i have never been into one and i am not going to even try to fix one on the net. Now maybe some day i may get into one as i do have all the tools and test equipment to work on one . I can tell ya this you will need a couple of GOOD hyd. gauges capable of reading up to 10000 PSI and steel line that can handel that kind of pressure while testing as the system works on pressures of up in the 5000 lb. range and hyd. pressure is nothing to mess with as it can do seirous damage to thing and to you so when testing hyd. prssures always go double on the higest readings on gauges and lines as if a releif valve sticks ya don't want the gauge or line blowen up in your hand or face .
