I started to strip the paint of the hood of a JD R and the stripper didn't even phase the decals. What's the best way to remove decals?

I have used an Aicraft decal remover, purchased from an auto parts store paint section. Some Wal-Mart stores have it, also. This is the same material some auto body shops use. I also use a high speed 4" air sander with # 80 sanding disc. I do not allow the sanding disc to cut into the metal. I have good success with both methods.
