Folks, Pulled an old 881 out of a snow bank. runs great, looks bad. Power washed it and underneath the yellow, I found Gold... all parts underneath the hood are this bronze gold color. Any tips on how I should go about restoring this. If I strip it, is there anyway to show it was once a golden model. ss# is 68343. Only part not Gold underneath seems to be the transmission which is Red.

Sounds like you have found a select-o-speed that has had the transmission changed from automatic to manual. The only gold Ford around here was a select-o-speed.

SouNguy. if you take time to read my post I said," the only Gold Ford AROUND HERE was a select-o-speed". The red might well be factory. I am only relating what I saw as a mechanic at the Deere dealership in the 50's&60's as we took tradeins.

What makes you think the red tranny in it isn't an SOS replacement / field update?
