I've got the tractor and remember the day I hit the tree with it!
That was 44 years ago and I'd like to restore the tractor because it reminds me of Dad.
Any ideas on how to start the hunt for the cast iron grill?

Call Paul Leister in MD. He has a Brockway and might know where you can find a grill. Might even let you use his for a pattern (doubtful, but worth a try)410-848-1913 or 410-848-6395. Tell him Herb told you to call.

Try these guys.
Demos truck parts 585-494-1341. They used to have lots of old stuff. I have not been by there in a while. Good luck.

Robert, heres an idea. Restore the tractor anyway. restore the "fabricated" grill and leave it on there. Its definitely not original, and probly doesnt look the best, but it is one of those customized parts of the tractor that give it history. Ideally it would be nice to find a grill, but for now, until you do, I would restore the fabbed grill. This should remind you more of dad and the history of the tractor then anything. Maybe I'm talking crazy here, but there are people out there that keep certain mods when restoring anything old as it gives it identity, character, or whatever you call it. Kinda like wormholes in old wood.

This will protect the radiator until someday when you find a grill.

Not sure what the grill looked like or how hard it would be to do, but you might be able to have one made out of sheetmetal and texture it to resemble cast iron. There are alot of ways to solve your problem, just got to be creative.

Its sad when ya run into this problem. I guess nothing lasts forever. Some day there will be no farmalls or IH's or molines or olivers except in museums, and even further in the future those will be gone as well. Do your best to preserve that tractor and dont beat it to death as parts are hard to come by.

No ... I remember my Dad took the tractor to a local repair shop and the grill was shattered beyond repair. The mechanic fabricated some bars and a screen to protect the radiator. The machine reminds me of my Dad and now that I'm retired I have the time to restore it. I'm afraid finding the grill may just be a dream.

all i can say is to have patience. Do a search on ebay and add it to you favorite, i would be area specific so it could be picked up. Then I would call every tractor junkyard you can find. Hope u have unlimited long distance. I fear its going to be a long hard search. Good luck with it!!
