I have removed all the nuts that hold the cylinder head on the block. They were very rusted and deformed. Most were removed with chisel and hammer. Cylinder head and manifold will not budge. Any ideas to remove cylinder head?

Once I had such an issue on a tractor head. after some pain and breaking a screwdriver tip, i got a closer look and found that I forgot one nut that was hidden in the very center of the head.

I had a stuck Continental flathead that the head wouldn't budge. I finally had to do the unthinkable and pry the end with a screw driver and hammer.

I have seen the studs that are outside the valve cover and exposed to moisture rust to the head inside hole they pass through. Penetrant, patience, and a hoist chained to the head have gotten mine loose. The "push it with the piston" method should work, I haven't tried it. I have heard of people doing that with oil or grease in the cylinders. If you try that, be easy, it is possible to bend a rod or break something if you get too aggressive.

If the engine turns over , put some of the nuts back on, but not tight and let engine compression blow it off. engine doesn't turn over , pressurize cylinder thru sparkplug holes
