Hi, I just got the AR and can"t get it running. It is a hand start model. I am wondering if there is any special way to handstart the tractor or any special settings on the carb. I can get the tractor to fire, but not enough to stay running. Sometimes I have pre-ignition and it backfires out the intake. Does this mean I need a richer fuel mixture? I am also curios how to take the clutch cover off and service the clutch. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ryan

how long has it been sitting. i have seen the carb gaskets dry up in my 47 ar. i make a new one myself. make sure you got full flow of gas to the carb. turn the jets all the way in then back the idel one out about one and one half turns. the load about 2 turns. check your mag timing. turn yhe flywheel over on no. 1 till you hear the mag trip,. then back it up there should be a mark on the tractor frame to the rear and behind the flywheel.(mine is on sheetmetalncover with the top curved down) line up the mark on flywheel that says no.1impulse. open mag and check the points. you maybe have to rotate the mag alittle bit. give the points about 15 thou. also check plug wires. sometimes they are in the wrong hole on the mag. i have done that many times.
