i had just done the lawn, after stopping to empty the bags i started it up and i ran wild wide open, now i checked the levers to the gov and carb and everything seamed to be in place, i ran it and manually held it at a low rpm but the minute i release the arm it swings wide open, and a very high un governed rpm. anyone had this happen? any ideas?

I am by no means a small engine guy - but here is my theory -

when u shut it off - the governor moved all the way to the end - snapped off a tired spring which flew away - now with the spring missing - it runs wide open -

that is my story and i am sticking to it -
