Sounds like something locked up in the transmission, rear end, finals, etc. Fluid levels ok? Can you move the shift lever- might be jammed in two gears? Not real close to you, but Ron 320-983-3500 (Milaca) is a good AC mechanic.

I AM ABLE TO MOVE SHIFT LEVER BACK AND FORTH BUT IT WILL NOT ENGAGE IN A GEAR, IF IT IS STUCK BETWEEN GEARS WHAT CAN I DO TO REMEDY THE SITUATION? THE FLUID LEVELS SEEM TO BE FINE AS EVERYTHING WAS NEWLY FILLED OR RESTORED TO PROPER LEVELS BEFORE USE.. THANKS FOR THE MECHANIC INFO. THANKS FOR YOUR INPUT JOHN R

Is there a way to roll the tractor frontward or backward and get it to flip out of its locked position into neutral or any gear for that matter?? Or do I need to tear into the clutch to fix it?? Anyone have an experience with this type of gear lockup???

Simple things first. Don't rip into the clutch- that's apparently working and would require a tractor split to replace. Top of transmission is a flat plate bolted on- right? Shift lever is in that plate. Remove that and look at the gears and forks. Anything jammed, twisted? Gears should slide back and forth- neutral will let you rock tractor back and forth. If that is ok, you need to realign the forks and gears before reinstalling the cover. Do you have an I&T manual for the D17? AC-11 is for the WD, etc., D17 is another number- mine is in the shop so can't tell you the exact number now. Manual source?- check that station/farm supply store on the west side of the road that runs N/S between 169 and downtown Hibbing. Couple blocks south of 37th St. Name is something like L&M Supply?

Since it's an AC, post on the AC board for more options. Also the Tractor Board is probably read by more people than this one.
