Ford 8N won't start after sitting out all Winter

I'm new to this and am having problems with my 8N. It sat outside all winter under a tarp and now it will not start. I replaced the battery yesterday and still nothing. It is a 12 volt conversion, that was done before I bought it.

When I turn the key, the solenoid is clicking, but nothing else is happening.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

HOOK JUMPER CABLES, GROUND TO STARTER HOUSING AND TOUCH POSITIVE TO THE FLAT METAL STRAP, BOLTED TO THE RELAY SWITCH AND GOING INTO THE STARTER HOUSING, TOP END. AND HOLD STARTER TIGHT, BECAUSE IT WILL TORQUE HARD AND THE STARTER DRIVE WILL SPIN INWARD ON SHAFT AND SMASH FINGERS.

Check/clean all battery cable connections. If that doesn't work tap on the soliniod and hold the starter button down at the same time. MAKE SURE ITS OUT OF GEAR. If that doesn't work you may need to pull the starter off and have it checked as it may have gone bad from sitting that way.

Thanks.

I have not put new cables on it but cleaned the connections and made sure that it had a good ground to the tractor.

I would like to bench test the starter, but don't know how you do that. I put the positive on the starter post and hooked up the ground to the starter body. Don't know that that is right, but it didn't do anything. If it was correct, should the starter turn?

Yes.. if you use jumper cables and hook one to starter body, and one to post.. and have a good battery.. the starter should spin... if it don''it's time for a rebuild... could be anything from bad brushes ( cheap ).. to bad coils or anything in between.. etc.

Have you tried turning the crank by hand to make sure the engine isn't stuck?

If you pull the starter off you could put a bar into the hole and give the flywheel a turn... if it turns, then get your starter checked out or check that you have a good cable and connection between the solenoid and the starter. (I had a brand new cable that was bad out of the box didn't find it until after I had the starter rebuilt). If it doesn't turn over by hand, you'll obviously need to free up the engine.
