What is your prefered method of redoing an engine. I'm doing a complete engine rebuild on a Farmall F-12. So I figured I might as well paint the whole tractor. It is NOT going to be a show piece, I'm still gonna use it alot, so it's not gonna be a complete tractor tear down.

I'd rather paint the engine and tractor separate. Anyway, what order do you guys prefer to do the engine? Clean(as in cook and clean), blast, clean again, paint then rebuild? I'm thinking about plastic pellet blasting. What is the best basting media for engines? I sure as h*ll don't want to use sand or glass.

This is my first time at any sort of resoration. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks, Doug

i send the block and head to the machine shop, have them tanked, valves done, any machine work ect. when it comes back, i wash the bare block with soap and water, blow out all the passages with air, assemble the motor to the long block, oil pan, valve cover, ect, then paint the motor. i paint all the accesories off the engine, then install and touch up as necessary.
