I just bought my first lawn mower, a used Cub Cadet LT1525. I want to ensure a long life for my mow deck, and I have a couple sandy spots in my yard..My brother coats his with ceramic paint; And, I thought of using truck bed-liner coating..But, I see there is graphite paint out there to prevent grass from sticking; I wasn't aware this was an issue..Bed-liner would probably be bad for a sticking and clogging..But, I do plan on useing a blower after every mower..Any opinions or ideas on a good coating? Is there any problems with me using the bed liner..

thanks,
Daryl

Sure looks nice! Do you lock it up in a safe at night? Must be worth plenty!

Bought the mower new about 1980. The deck rusted out around 1990 and I paid a guy $1,000 to make a new deck out of SSt. Reused the old spindles, gearbox, and wheels. Converted it from a 5' to a 6' mower at that time (longer blades and spindles spread out more). That actually saved me a bunch of money. It works great! I keep it locked up pretty tight.

i wouldnt use the bedliner. the deck builds up with grass and dirt, and can get pretty hard. it seals itself and the inside of the glob stays wet and rusts the deck out. the bedliner has a textured surface when it dries and that would really hold the dirt and grass. there are paints like the graphite and teflons for mower decks, that would be a better choice. clean the deck every couple of weeks to get the old grass out of there, then at the end of the season, clean the deck good, spray a light coat of oil or spray white lithium grease to help stop the rust.
