Ok folks, this should get the prize for the dummy of the week. Guess there's some things I just have to learn through my own ignorance. I just bought a nice old 140 and after using if for a month, took it to a welder to get loose exhaust pipe welded to manifold. (Yes, you know what happened.) Weld slag fell through manifold and into engine and when I cranked it back up, cracked the block on top. Crack is about 4 to 6 inches long and includes two water jackets and a cylinder wall. So here's the question-what's the feasibility of having a portable welder come to the house, grind out the crack, reweld it and me hand grind and polish it down level enough to seal? Or are there plenty of good C-123 engines readily available out there?

I orginally wasn't planning on rebuilding it any time soon.

Thanks,
Mitch in NC
