Platform cover/floormat question

I am about to finish up on my B project and need to find a way to protect the freshly painted platform from being scuffed up every time I climb on it. At some of the shows I saw that others had rubber mats and such on theirs to deal with this. I have rubber matting that would look and work good for this but wonder if I should fasten it down with glue or something so it won't blow off when trailering it. Or maybe there is a better way than using a mat. What's the neatest way to protect the platform that you've seen? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Painted our SMTA last summer and have used it in the mud, etc. with no mat and haven't scratched the paint on the platform yet.

Use quality paint.

I am not familier with JD's but my Farmall M has a bunch of bolts that hold down the deck. i reckon you could cut your mat so the rubber goes out over the holed and put holes in the rubber and bolt it down like that. you could put some big washers on it so it doesn't come off as easily

I was over at a friends last night and he had a mat that had a JD logo on his 50, I think it was just a plain old door mat but looked like it was made to go on the platform. I'll ask him where he got and and post.

Cut your mat to fit..... remove it when hauling.

I bought a clear carmat, and cut to fit. I just remove when transporting.

I found some outdoor carpet that is as close to John Deere green as you could want. I glued magnetic sign strips to the underside and have had no problem with carpet blowing off during transporting. I'm sure you can find the color you want too. Frank

I have a 46 JD A and I used a black rubber door mat that I cut to fit. The rubber is fairly heavy and is textured so it doesn't get slippery when wet. I didn't secure it with anything and I've trailered it numerous times over the last few years and it hasn't come off yet.

You can buy fitted ones through Deere and other places but they are expensive! I made one for my 730 out of a new rubber truck mud flap and cut it to fit, looks real good. Doesn't blow off during transportation, have 6 bucks in it, and it is textured on one side.
